Despite a motorsport history spanning more than 50 years, Stonehaven and District Motor Club will organise a Scottish Rally Championship event for the first time when they host the Coltel Grampian Stages on Saturday 13 August.
The penultimate round of the seven event all gravel series will be based near Banchory on the outskirts of the city of Aberdeen, and will provide competitors with over 40 stage miles in the forests of Kincardineshire to the south-west of the city.
The new-for-2016 rally will be organised by the team responsible for winning the Chairman’s Cup for best event in the 2015 ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship. Not only will the event be the sixth round of the SRC, but it will also be the will be the penultimate scoring round of the Ecosse Challenge, a dedicated one-make contest for the popular Citroen C2.
The event will be sponsored by communications group Coltel, who are a leading provider of integrated business communications, information technology and testing services in the North East. A name now synonymous with rallying in Aberdeenshire, the well-established company has diverse range of clients, and are proud to be associated with a new event in the Scottish rallying calendar.
